Bike trail ‘to be completed by February’

CONSTRUCTION work on Davagh Forest Trail is on target to be completed by early February.

A recent meeting of a Cookstown Council sub-committee was also told that, during the first and second weekends of September, damage was caused to the construction work by unauthorised use of the pathways by quad bike and mountain trail bike users.

A meeting has since taken place involving local community, police, and bikers, with a view to looking at the issue again in the near future.

Meanwhile, the committee was told marketing support for the new trail will be provided for the next three years to the council from Outdoor Recreation NI under the brand ‘Mountain Bike NI’ – consisting of Trail Guides, Information Panels, Website, Community Liaison and Event Planning.
