Bullet threat to McGlone ‘attack on democracy’

MID Ulster UUP Assembly Member, Sandra Overend, has condemned a threat sent to SDLP representative for the area, Patsy McGlone.

Ms Overend was commenting after a package containing a bullet and sympathy card intended for Mr McGlone, was intercepted by the Post Office.

The Ulster Unionist MLA said: “The last few weeks have seen a number of politicians threatened and today I learned that the Post Office intercepted a package containing a bullet and a sympathy card intended for the SDLP’s Mid-Ulster MLA Patsy McGlone.

“An attack on an elected representative is an attack on democracy itself.

“This is no way to resolve problems and disputes and I unreservedly condemn this action.

“This act of intimidation will no doubt be the cause of anxiety and concern for Patsy and his family, and my thoughts are with them.”
