Drop in swimmer numbers

COOKSTOWN Council has been asked to look at ways of encouraging greater numbers of swimmers to use the facilities at the town’s Leisure Centre.

The recommendation comes after a council sub-committee was told user figures had recently dropped by 3,713.

The decrease was put down to the opening of the new Greenvale Leisure Centre in Magherafelt.

Meanwhile, the committee was also told that following feedback from customers, an annual swim membership would be introduced.

It was suggested that consideration be given to several different methods of payment to spread the cost of the fee.
