Fundraising night organised in memory of Lauren

FAMILY and friends of murdered Bellaghy teenager Lauren O’Neill have organised a fundraising night in her memory.

It will take place in Bellaghy GAA Club on September 1st and will raise cash to support the family of the 18 year-old who died on May 19th.

Lauren was shot dead as she tried to save sister Brenda from a gunman who entered her sibling’s William Court home.

Mum-of-two Brenda was also shot during the horrific attack which stunned the local community.

She was seriously wounded and was unable to attend her little sister’s funeral due to the extent of her injuries.

Farewell

Last month the 21 year-old revealed how she paid an emotional farewell to her little sister, who she said saved her life.

Brenda’s former partner Phelim McNally (26), of Station Park, Toomebridge, has been charged with her attempted murder and Lauren’s murder.

Tickets for the event will be available from Tuesday, August 31st.

A Facebook page has already been set up to promote the night, which will include music live music and a disco.

“A Take Me Out Night is being held on the 1 st Of September In Bellaghy GAA Club to raise money to support the O’Neill Family after the loss of their daughter and sister Lauren,” it says.

“We hope to see everyone there to show their support for the family and have a good night in loving memory of Lauren.”
