LOCAL shoppers are being urged to put a little heart into their baking this winter by purchasing a charity recipe book from EUROSPAR stores.

All money raised from the £5 recipe books which are available in EUROSPAR and VIVOXTRA stores in Tyrone will go to the NI Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC).

It is hoped the book will raise over £30,000 to help build the charity’s state-of-the art respite and therapeutic centre in Shimna Valley, Newcastle.

Pictured at the launch, UTV’s Pamela Ballantine got a chance to sneak a peek at the new book and locate her recipe for ‘Chocolate Brownie Cake with White Chocolate Sauce’.

She, along with over 60 other local novice and professional bakers, donated recipes for inclusion, with 40 selected for the final book.

Other recipe donations range from celebrity chefs including Danny Millar of Balloo House and personalities including Rugby star Ian Humphreys, BBC’s Paula McIntyre and the Belfast Giants’ coach, Doug Christiansen; the book contains a diverse range of tasty treats that can be enjoyed with a cuppa throughout the NICFC Hug a Mug Campaign.

Gillian Creevy, CEO of NICFC said: “The nation has been gripped with baking fever recently and thanks to this EUROSPAR and VIVOXTRA-supported collection of recipes, there are now a host of ‘bake-off’ challenges for the most novice to the most professional of bakers to rise to!

“At NICFC, we are so grateful to have the support of the Henderson Group’s stores and their customers to help raise such a significant sum towards our vital services that make a real difference to the lives of children and young people living with cancer.”

The recipe book can also be ordered online at www.nicfc.com/store
