Mid Ulster Partnership looks ahead to the New Year
MID-ULSTER Seniors Network, a partnership that supports older people in Dungannon, Cookstown and Magherafelt, outlined its plans for the New Year during a successful Christmas event for 130 participants in Ballyronan.
The event, which was funded by the Public Health Agency and supported by the Cookstown and Western Shores Area Network NICHI project and Age NI, also celebrated joint working and collaboration with Network partners and members over the past year.
Violet Lyttle from Dungannon, who is Vice Chair of MUSN and Pensioners Parliament member, said: “This event was a great opportunity to celebrate the success of the network to date working with our partners in the voluntary, community and statutory sectors helping older people in the Mid Ulster area.”
Elaine Simpson, Age NI Development Manager, added: “With almost 23,000 people over 60 living in the Mid Ulster area, this Network works hard to raise awareness of services, to provide information and vital networking opportunities, and to address issues that affect older people in their local communities.”
She continued: “MUSN has a number of older representatives on decision-making panels and sub groups about key issues including the future of health and social care in Northern Ireland and discounts for older people. We wish to further develop the Network in 2013 and we look forward to inviting more people in later life to join us and ensure their voices are heard on issues that matter to them most.”
