SONGWRITING supremo Joe Echo comes home this week, headlining his first local gig for quite some time.

The mid-Ulster man has been busying himself with various musical endeavours, perhaps most notably writing the music for forthcoming Jim Sturgess thriller Heartless in between recording a debut album and featuring on enough tv shows that would make your head spin.

The wonderous one man creation will play the Cellar Bar in Draperstown this Saturday night and will be supported on the night by younger brother John Gribbin and Oonagh Clarke, both Glasgowbury Rural Key participants.

It's a coup for Mid-Ulster to see the man back in action following hectic schedule after hectic schedule which has seen him travel the length and breadth of the country in his quest to bring top quality musicianship to the world.

That same top quality musicianship which has seen him land the accolade of providing the music for highly anticipated fothcoming thriller Heartless starring pretty boy Jim Sturgess as well as previously providing the music for movie Love And Suicide.

As a prolific writer with an ever-exanding catalogue of songs he set out to perform his new material in his own live shows in preparation for the recording of his debut Joe Echo solo album.

Following a lengthy and ongoing series of dates across Ireland and the UK he's been back in Metropolis Studios in London with internationally renowned producer Chris Potter whose credits include Richard Ashcroft, The Verve, Blur and The Feeling; and they're now 'half way through recording this album'. Mr Echo has also been privileged too secure The Verve drummer Pete Salisbury on some of his work.

Two of Joe's songs, 'Prove' and 'Stay', and performances can be heard in 'Love & Suicide', www.morofilms.com/love_and_suicide the first American movie shot entirely on location in Cuba.
A dance re-mix of his song 'On All My Sundays' has been recorded by Israeli DJ/mixer Liam Shachar.

Paul Oakenfold has been playing this track on his shows around the world for the past year and it's now scheduled for release on his new US label Perfecto Digital.

It's all enough to send some to the looney bin but for Joe Echo it's just another series of notches on his musical bedpost.

The man will perform his headline show this Saturday night in Draperstown and on current form may be the last chance he gets to fit in local gigs for a long, long time. www.myspace.com/joeecho
