ONE of the biggest success stories from the region in recent times, if not the country, comes in the form of indie/pop get-up General Fiasco.
Slowly but surely their rise to fame has seemed almost inevitable and while still young, their experience and general demeanour places them already above some of the most weathered bands on the circuit.
While other bands slog it out, and General Fiasco have done their fair share of hard work, few seem as effortlessly accomplished and rounded as these three perfomers.
Effortlessly cool, they pull pop gems out of the air with consummate ease, ringing them round Owen's vocal chords by way of a gigantic, sing-along chorus that thrills to the core of their ridiculously large fanbase. Rumour has it two in every five Belfastians will be able to sing you one of their songs.
But they leave their surrogate Belfast homes for a trek up the country on Saturday 26 July to play their second Glasgowbury festival. The main stage struggled to contain them last year so book your seats early this time round. It'll be a wise decision I tell you, a wise one.
We caught up with drummer Stephen Leaky Leacock who talked to us about all things Fiasco related including a much anticipated inclusion to this year's Oxegen line-up.
"We were playing a gig at The Limelight and this guy who was there watching us approached us afterwards and asked if we would be interested in playing.
"And we're playing so high up the schedule (2nd from the top ladies and gents) because another band from T In The Park weren't able to get across in time to play the slot."
But the Oxegen coup is the tip of a massive iceberg which now has gained some management credentials. General Fiasco are hot property and just about everyone knows it.
And we're talking to Leaky just days after returning from a gig in London where, afterwards, they also had the privilege of recording a Radio One session with Steve Lemacq.
"We've been playing more gigs, we've a club tour lined up for later in the Summer and a single release due at the end as well. We're just keeping really busy and on top of things," he said.
The band continue to record at the Start Together Studios at the Oh yeah Centre in Belfast and with Oppenheimer's Rocky at the helm General Fiasco's output will be nothing short of original.
Indeed they probably have enough material to produce a couple of full length albums but their experience and sense of judgment has kept heads firmly lodged on shoulders and they're quick to keep their feet on the ground.
So with Oxegen conquered and thousands more fans enthralled, the pied pipers of indie pop music look to Glasgowbury for their next fix.
"Glasgowbury is actually one of our highlights and one of the gigs we're most looking forward to," said Leaky. "Last year was a great experience and it'll be fantastic to play it now a year on and with everything that we've experienced."
The road ahead continues to have a rose tinted glint for the young trio who are fast becoming the most accessible and exciting act in the country since Snow Patrol, Ash et al.
And with Northern Ireland getting a much deserved plump of interest of late, General Fiasco's bright future is all but a certainty.
General Fiasco play Oxegen's new band stage on Saturday 12th July and follow it with an appearance at the Stiff Kitten alongside Fighting With Wire on Wednesday 16th.
