Exclusive first outing for Glasgowbury's G Decks
EVERY year, on the last Saturday in July, on the top of a hill in the Sperrin Mountains, at around 10pm a strange and unexplained phenomenon takes place that the organisers of Glasgowbury might nickname Funkbury.
For one of Derry's, and the country's, finest dance acts, Deep Fried Funk, take control of one of the festival's stages, ramming it to the gills with normally right minded people getting in touch with their inner funk groove.
Lawyers, accountants, grannies, politicians...you name it and you've probably seen it in that tent. In fact it probably won't be long 'til the tabloids get a hold of it.
It's a sight to behold and now, thanks to those same organisers, will be one which we can experience in more confined surroundings this Saturday night in Draperstown.
The first ever G Decks - an innovative new dance night from the same great people who bring you the annual small but massive Glasgowbury Music Festival and monthly G Sessions - will see Deep Fried Funk cram the Cellar Bar this Saturday night with a touch of their magic.
The Derry based dance act are regarded as one of the north's premier acts and their sold out performances across the world go down in history as legend.
And Deep Fried Funk have been hand picked to launch the first night in the new series of Glasgowbury initiated events which have been organised in response to a large demand and need in the area where a huge number of original dance music artists and lovers have expressed their interest in the genre.
To say we're excited would be something of an understatement; to miss it, a crime. Roll on Saturday.
