Tyrone Rose Carla in bloom for final

TYRONE Rose Carla O'Brien is looking forward to the Rose of Tralee Irish regional final which takes place this weekend in Portlaoise.

Carla has had plenty of opportunities to adjust to the pace of Rose of Tralee life as she has carried out radio and newspaper interviews, and appeared at charity functions. She popped in to see Malachi Cush live on his Six FM show and also attended a charity fundraiser in support of Women’s Aid recently in Cookstown, organised by last year’s Tyrone Rose Ciara O’Neill.

Caledon girl Carla said being Tyrone Rose has just been fantastic.

“I have met so many people, received such great support and people tell me that this is only the beginning!” she said.

Carla has accepted to study for her Masters in Journalism at the University of Galway in September.

The Tyrone Girl will join 28 other Roses at the regional finals in Portlaoise tomorrow (Friday).

A hectic schedule awaits the Roses with four days of fun planned. An evening concert, a vintage car parade through the town as well civic receptions await Carla. She will take to the stage on Sunday to dance a piece from Riverdance the show.

Carla said: “It is an honour to represent Tyrone in this wonderful festival and I have promised myself to enjoy every minute of living the Rose experience,” she added.

Carla extended her thanks to her Rose sponsor for the Tyrone event, and wishes the family every success in their venture at Green’s Restaurant and Winebar at the Linen Green in Moygashel.

The committee would like to thank all the sponsors and supporters of the Tyrone Rose 2010 as well as Cookstown District Council.
