Volunteer AGM and Celebration evening

AROUND a hundred volunteers, committee members, representatives and groups attended an AGM and celebration evening organised by Cookstown and Magherafelt Volunteer Centre.

The evening acknowledged volunteers in Cookstown and Magherafelt District Council areas for their commitment and contribution to volunteering.

Heather Boyd from the Maghera Parish Caring Association was guest speaker at the event held in Bryson’s, Magherafelt on Thursday 8th November 2012.

Speaking following the event, Michele McKeown, Volunteer Centre Co-ordinator said: “I was delighted to see so many volunteers and placement organisations attend.

“The celebration evening gave the Volunteer Centre a chance to thank volunteers who ‘make a difference’ throughout Cookstown and Magherafelt District Council areas.

Michele added: “Without volunteers many organisations could not survive”.

After the formalities volunteers and partner organisations were entertained by Fionnuala Devlin and George Shiels.
