Three Loughry students have been voted debate champions at University of Ulster, Jordanstown.
Second year BSc. Food students Emeryn Erwin from Hillsborough, Linda Elder from Campsie and Wendy Liggett from Drumquin came top in a Science and Ethics Debating Competition.
The girls from Loughry debated against Biomedical undergraduates from Ulster’s Coleraine Campus on the merits and drawbacks of the genetic modification of food. As well as being crowned ‘Debate Champions, Wendy Liggett won the judges’ vote as Best Individual Speaker.
