DRIVING instructors and friends from Mid-Ulster gathered recently to honour veteran driving trainer Pat Deehan from Magherafelt who has retired after 55 years.

A prominent figure in driving circles, his contribution to and promotion of safe-driving procedures is unparalleled.

Over the past five decades, Pat has been instrumental in setting up a number of driving-related bodies, including the first bus accident investigation unit in Great Britain, for which he was able to draw on his experience as a former bus driver.
