OVER 20,000 people in the Mid Ulster area are over the age of 60, it has been revealed.
A major event organised by the Mid Ulster Seniors Network [MUSN], is due to be held on December 10 in the Ballyronan Marina Centre to address services and concerns for older members of the community.
Elaine Simpson, Age NI Partnership Manager, said the MUSN group was set up to provide a voice to older people due to the restructuring of the super council covering Magherafelt, Cookstown and Dungannon area.
“With around 23,000 people aged over 60 living in the Mid Ulster area, the network is working with our partners in the voluntary, community and statutory sectors to raise awareness of existing services, to address key concerns affecting people in later life including health and social care and to provide information and vital networking opportunities for older people in their local communities.
“This event will give MUSN a platform to provide an update on its work to date and will give older people an opportunity to ensure their voices are heard on issues that matter to them most.”
