50 shillings musical extravaganza returns for encore in Magherafelt

Last year, over 300 pupils, of Rainey Endowed, Magherafelt, both past and present joined harmoniously together in an electrifying and exquisite musical extravaganza at The Grand Opera House, Belfast to perform “50 Shillings and a New Suit of Clothes”.

At the time, it was for one night, with one goal: a wondrous and captivating celebratory moment not simply reflecting 300 years but childhood memories – “faces”, “laughter”, “hopes and dreams”, “pictures in our mind”, to use words of it’s creator.

As we look back with fondness on every word, every verse and every song sung, it’s a joy to now look forward to “50 Shillings: ENCORE”, two concerts on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th September at 7.30 pm in the Rainey Endowed School.

An atmosphere of inspiration, reflection and musical beauty will, without a doubt, grace every seat within The Johnston Hall as it did in Belfast ten months ago. The concerts are being organised by the Rainey Former Pupils’ Association and will be a great opportunity to meet up with old
school friends.

Behind the original concept of “50 Shillings” stands the very talented and gifted Mr Ashley Fulton. Past pupil of Rainey Endowed, Ashley has worked professionally in musical theatre and singing for the past 15 years as an award winning performer, vocal coach, producer, and musical director. As creator of this phenomenal show, he returns to Mid-Ulster for an “Encore” due to public demand. The evenings’ journey will carry one back to their childhood days, to reflect upon life’s paths, trials and breakthroughs. An amazing musical experience not to be missed!

Friday evening tickets are sold out, Thursday evening’s are on sale in Ditty’s, Magherafelt and Castledawson; Sheehy’s, Cookstown; Burns &Co, Maghera and Moneymore Pharmacy. Tickets £10 each.
