DUP Mid Ulster MLA Ian McCrea has added his congratulations to Wendy Houvenaghel from Upperlands on gaining a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics.
“I would like to congratulate Wendy Houvenaghel on her superb achievement at the Beijing Olympics,” he said.

“To win a silver medal at the Olympics is a marvellous achievement which has no doubt brought a great sense of pride to Wendy’s family, as it has to the people of Upperlands and indeed Mid Ulster.”

Magherafelt councillor Paul McLean added his congratulations, saying it was a remarkable achievement.

“Wendy has well and truely put this district on the map by representing Great Britain with distinction,” he said.

Councillor McLean also extended his congratulations to Alan Campbell, who has relatives in the Magherafelt district, on reaching the rowing final.
