THE boy critically injured in Wednesday's quad bike crash near Draperstown is believed to have undergone surgery in the Royal Victoria Hospital yesterday.

The 13-year-old sustained serious injuries in the accident involving the quad and a car on the Doon Road around 7.50pm.

Two other teenagers and the car driver were also hurt, but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The PSNI are trying to piece together events leading up to the collision and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Local Independent councillor Patsy Groogan expressed the hope that the boy would make a full and speedy recovery.

"The people of the parish are praying for him and his parents are distraught," he said.
