Two rescued from Tobermore flood


River Moyola bursts its banks

TWO people had to be rescued by a tractor after their Tobermore home was flooded on Saturday night.
Paul Watters helped rescue his mother, 87 and brother, 67 on when the River Moyola burst its banks near their home on Saturday night.

"A neighbour came with a tractor and we put a sofa on it, we got my mum and brother on there and took them out," he said.

"Precious stuff was lost but, at the end of the day, my mum and my brother were safe."

A big clean up is underway today throughout Mid-Ulster following the torrential rain which caused widespread damage to property.

Nearly a month's rain fell in just a few hours on Saturday afternoon.
