A MAGHERAFELT based architect has pledged to donate £40 from every contract the company signs this year to charity.

mc2 architects Ltd, situated on Broad Street, made the pledge to support Mid-Ulster based cancer charity Charis during 2013 to coincide with their 10th anniversary year.

Principal architect Dermot Madden explained: “We’re part of Mid-Ulster community and as I see it, we have a responsibility to support other parts of the community we value in any way we can.

“We’ve been involved with Charis since the site for their haven and retreat was offered to them.

“We took the project through the planning and statutory body approvals and became interested in their work.

Mr Madded added: “Quality of life is important to everyone, but when faced with serious illness like cancer, it becomes even more vital. On top of that, Charis is such a community-led charity. It’s heartening to see what people can achieve together”

Valerie Beattie, Charis fundraiser, is delighted with the pledge.

She said: “We are delighted to have the support of mc2 architects ltd particularly as we have never had a fundraising initiative like this from an architect’s before.

“This is a great example of how the business sector can do something straightforward but highly useful to support a local cause. Each donation from mc2 architects ltd is extremely helpful for someone visiting the centre.”

mc2 architects ltd are based on the first floor of the Danske Bank (formally the Northern Bank) in Magherafelt and are available for consultation through appointment by phoning 028 7963 1864 or by emailing at info@mc2architects.co.uk.
