Cushendun ‘still in the dark’

ROADS Service has again rejected calls for street lights to be put up between Cushendun and Knocknacarry despite an impassioned plea from Independent councillor Randal McDonnell.

Divisional Roads Manager Deidre Mackle, in a letter to Moyle Council, said: ‘This has been a long standing request which has been turned down on numerous occasions in the past.

“As this request does not meet the criteria for street lighting provision in rural areas, regrettably, I cannot accede to your request.’
