Military history author in Ballymena

ONE of Ireland’s foremost military historians will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Ballymena Branch of the Family History Society.

Richard Doherty, from Londonderry, has written more than 20 books about British and Irish military history ranging from the Williamite Wars through to the Second World War and beyond.

Mr. Doherty’s published works include:- Normandy 1944 - The Road to Victory; Eighth Army in Italy - The Long Hard Slog; The Siege of Derry 1689; Ireland’s Generals in the Sceond World War.

If you think or know that any of your ancestors were in uniform, don’t miss thistalk as you may find that elusive missing link in your research.

Everyone is welcome at the meeting which is due to be held on THursday, January 31 at 7.15pm in The Braid Arts Centre, 1-29 Bridge Street, Ballymena.
