Tony Anthony talk at Portstewart

A former world kung fu champion will be the guest speaker at Portstewart Presbyterian Church this Sunday, January 20 at 10.30am.

Tony Anthony was taught the martial art by his grandfather as a boy living in China.

He became a world champion in the discipline and was invited to work for the International Kung Fu Federation, an elite bodyguard organisation, which protected some of the world’s richest and most powerful people.

Tony excelled as an elite bodyguard but then tragedy struck and he fell into a downward spiral of self-destruction, which turned him into a blood thirsty and violent gangster.

Tony was subsequently incarcerated into Cyprus’ notorious Nicosia Central Prison where he found every form of human depravity.

However, it was also there that he found Christ. God spoke to Tony through the visit of a Northern Ireland evangelist and he was set free from the bondage of sin.

Following the miraculous change in his life, Tony is now committed to sharing the gospel message with as many people across the world as possible. As Director of Avanti Ministries he does this personally by sharing his amazing life story at meetings held in venues ranging from prisons to church halls.

Tony is also co-author of the award winning book ‘Taming the Tiger’, and is involved in the production of a £20 million action-drama movie based on his life story.
