A new winter season of talks begins at Ballinascreen Historical Society on Tuesday of next week when the speaker will be Dr Paddy Fitzgerald, Development Officer at the Centre for Migration Studies in the Ulster-American Folk Park, Omagh.

Paddy has had a long interest in the landscape, human geography and heritage of the mid-Ulster area, and in how these have been impacted by patterns of human migration over the last 400 years.

This will be reflected in his talk, entitled ‘Migration in Sperrins History’ which will be illustrated by numerous examples of the ways in which the face of the district has been continually re-shaped by those who have lived and worked and left their mark there.

The meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the former Plantation Centre at 50, High Street, Draperstown (green door beside the new Library building), which is now the regular venue for Historical Society meetings.

It will begin at 8pm on Tuesday October 7th, and as usual all visitors are very welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
