Up to 24 disabled people and those with illnesses from the Mid Ulster area will be brought to the holy shrine at Lourdes this summer, thanks to the efforts of a local charity group.

Next weekend - Saturday, July 2 - well-known Ballinascreen man Paddy Gray will host his annual barbecue to raise funds for the Lourdes Pilgrimage Society in Magherafelt.

The evening which kicks off at 8.30pm promises to be another great night of craic, yarns and music, as old friends and musicians reunite at the Gray farm which is situated high up in the Sperrins.

“We are hoping for another great evening, and we’re busy getting all the supplies in,” said Paddy.

“It will be great to see so many old friends from all walks of life and new friends coming along and this year all the money raised is going to a very worthy cause.”

The barbecue will start at 8.30pm with admission £10
