The Burnavon Writers have been putting pen to paper over the past few months with the members currently enjoying thriving fortnightly meetings.
Moneymore poet Maura Johnston is one of the Burnavon Writers and she took time out to talk to the MAIL about the group which has been meeting for many years.
“When Mary Crooks became Arts Officer at Cookstown District Council, she re-invigorated the group. She has been wonderful - really full of enthusiasm and keen to look after the members and to do her best for them. She is really dedicated and we can’t praise her highly enough,” said Maura.
The members have enjoyed a varied programme over the year including a visit to the Belfast Festival at Queen’s to hear Irish historical novelist Joseph O’Connor speak.
