It is understood the bridge will be both strengthened and widened during the works.

Mr Milne said: “I welcome the announcement from my party colleague and Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard that the £250,000 bridge strengthening and widening project at Milltown Bridge and Craigadick Road is starting.

“This work will not only improve the road for motorists but also for pedestrians as a missing link of footpath across the bridge will be completed,” he said.

“The upgrade work will help the local community access GAA facilities on the other side of the bridge.

“This investment is further evidence of Sinn Fein ministers investing in local communities.”
