CLOUGHBANE Farm Shop are no strangers to success and the Agri-food business of the Year 2011 have something more to celebrate when they entered the European Angus Steak tasting competition recently and gained CHAMPION success!
The province wide steak tasting competition was held recently by the European Angus Cattle Society. The Pomeroy-based farm shop entered their 28 day matured, dry hung Rib-Eye Steaks and were delighted when they were overall winners in their category! Only in its second year running, the standard of competition was very high and it’s great to see a local company being recognised in a province wide competition.
Delighted with their win Richard Robinson from Cloughbane Farm said: “It’s great to be recognised and commended for something you love to do. We entered the competition with our Rib-Eye steaks which are very popular at our Farm Shop, and were delighted when they won.
“We have been rearing cattle on our farm for generations so it’s great to be recognised for the high quality of beef we provide.”
Alongside this win Cloughbane Farm Shop were also recognised at the UK Free-From Food Awards recently when their Gluten Free Steak Burgers and Gluten Free Beef Sausages were shortlisted and reached the finals.
Delighted to be recognised in this increasingly growing food sector, Lorna Robinson from Cloughbane Farm said: “We have been selling our Gluten Free Steak Burgers and Beef sausages at our Farm Shop and they are popular among our customers; it is great to gain recognition in awards like these with entrants from companies all around the UK and Ireland.”
