Council to spend £5K on Olympic event

COOKSTOWN District Council has agreed to spend £5,060 on events to mark the Olympic Torch making it’s way through Ballyronan.

The Olympic Flame will be arriving from Antrim across Lough Neagh into Ballyronan Marina on Thursday, June 7th 2012 at 1.14 p.m.

An event is proposed from 12:00 - 1.30 pm and will be attended by local schools, community groups and other groups. The event will include Zumba, Tai Chi, group exercise, a radio roadshow, circus entertainers and food.

On the proposal of Councillor McGarvey, seconded by Councillor Quinn the Committee agreed to the proposed expenditure of £5,060.00 for the event, at a recent Sports and Lesiure meeting.
