'˜Defaulted' Cookstown charities submit accounts to Charity Commission

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland (CCNI) has now received the required paperwork and end of year of accounts from Mid Ulster Child Contact Centre.

The Mail reported on two Cookstown charities which were late with their accounts to CCNI on March 1, that had been named on a ‘default’ list.

A spokesperson for the Cookstown-based contact centre has since told the Mail the charity, which oversees supported contact for families, underwent some changes which led to the delay.

CCNI had revealed a list of 38 charities in the same situation.

On CCNI’s website it now says Mid Ulster Child Contact Centre’s “due documents received late” and Coagh & District Local History Group, which was also named, has also submitted.

The other Mid Ulster based charity named on the list was St Macartan’s Youth & Community Centre in Augher, which until now remains in default with the charity overseer.

CCNI’s website says the charity’s documents are 43 days overdue.
