Ulster Unionist Party candidate for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, Rosemary Barton has joined with Moygashel Residents Association in welcoming Apex Housing’s plans for additional housing and new business premises in the village.

It is understood a planning application has not yet been submitted, but it is hoped that seven new dwellings will be given the green light.

Speaking about the news, UUP Assembly candidate Mrs Barton said: “The residents for some time have voiced concerns at the lack of investment made by Mid Ulster Council in Moygashel.

“I am pleased to report that following contact with Apex Housing, I have learned that they plan to be on site at Roskeen Road by the end of March in order to start construction of eight units which will include two disabled bungalows, with a completion date of the end of 2017.

“I will support the planning application for social housing development consisting of seven dwellings (four single storey semi-detached, two two-storey semi-detached and one single storey detached) on land at Linen Court, Moygashel.

“There is an acute shortage of suitable housing in Moygashel and this is a very positive development.”

She has also welcomed news a long-vacant business premises has been filled.

“I am also delighted that a business property on the Main Road, which has been vacant for years is being developed for a new business and the owners deserve our support in their venture.

“Much work still needs to be done with vacant sites in Moygashel to improve the appearance of the village.”
