CUSTOMERS of Asda in Cookstown may have thought they had gone back in time last Saturday.
After a glitch in the system the supermarket’s tills crashed leaving staff with no way to take payment for goods.
But instead of admitting defeat, quick thinking employees reverted to the old fashioned method of adding up what customers owed with a calculator and a pen.
A spokesman for the store told the MAIL: “Yes, the tills went down on Saturday for a couple of hours. It was eventful - we had to do it manually with a calculator.”
Although he did point out that such a problem was “a rarity”, and that staff should be praised for staying so calm under pressure.
