CARLA Heron, a Year 13 student in St Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt, achieved a place in the Grand Final of the Junkouture fashion competition.

Carla was one of 20 pupils from Northern Ireland who competed in the Grand All Ireland Final, which took place recently in Dublin.

Carla’s creation greatly impressed judges because of the original ideas and varied techniques, the range of creative recyclable materials used, the excellent performance by Aoife Blacklaws (Year 13) who modelled the dress, and, the make-up and hair designs by Teresa Ryan (Year 13).

The girls, although disappointed not to win, enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to next year’s competition.

Lots of people in the local community offered vast support and everyone involved with the experience would like to thank them!
