THE town of Coalisland is to be left without a bank when the First Trust closes its doors at the end of this year.
A formal response from the company is expected later today, however, a spokesperson confirmed the closure.
Mid Ulster MP, Francie Molloy, said the plan was a “big blow” to Coalisland in terms of business and accessibility for the town’s growing population.
“This decision does not appear to have been thought out”, Mr Molloy told the TIMES.
“It is a degrading of the town, the second largest town in the Dungannon Council area.”
Full details of the announcement from First Trust Bank will be reported as they emerge.
