Mindless thugs have attacked and destroyed a van belonging to a local businessman over the weekend.

The My Cookstown business directory van had its windows and mirrors smashed and panelling dented by vandals between Friday and Monday morning as it sat by the roadside on the road into Moneymore from Cookstown.

“I’m just glad that this person took their anger out on my van rather than take it home with them to use on another person,” said Alan Hogshaw, who runs the business directory. “To break all my windows, mirrors and kick in all the panels - this person must have serious anger issues.

“The van is a complete write-off. They completely trashed it using a rock to break the windows. I’d ask that if anyone knows who did this to please inform the police. It has happened to a few people now - lets get these people caught.

“I also wanted to thank everyone for their texts, calls and Facebook messages. Cookstown has so many amazing people who encourage people when things go wrong.”

Const. Kearney said,” Substantial damage was caused to the blue Citroen van while parked at the road side outside Moneymore on the Cookstown Road. The van bore the logo with ‘mycookstown.com’ on one side and ‘myomagh.com’ on the other. The incident occurred between 7pm on Friday 17th April and 7 am on Saturday 18th April. If you anyone can help Police with their enquiries please call the 101 number, quoting reference number 39218415. Alternatively information can be passed via the independent Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.”
