COOKSTOWN Celtic lost their 100 per cent start to the league campaign on Saturday when they were held to a 2-2 draw against The Dons in Lisburn.
Celtic started well and had a couple of long range efforts well saved by The Dons keeper. Celtic continued to dominate possession and got the breakthrough before half time when Doherty delivered an inviting cross and McGahan headed to the net. Celtic were caught cold at the start of the second half when a swift counter attack resulted in The Dons getting the equaliser.
It got worse for Celtic ten minutes later when they failed to clear their lines and The Dons midfielder curled an unstoppable effort into the top corner.
This stirred Celtic into life and got back on level terms when when McVey was on hand to tap in after Dohertys initial effort was kept out. Celtic went in search for the winner and were unlucky when Dohertys effort came back of the crossbar and away to safety.
Celtic thought they had the winner when McElhones header clearly crossed the line but wasnt given by the referee. Celtic continued to press for the winner but a combination of poor finishing and good saves from The Dons goalkeeper meant that they had to settle for a share of the spoils.
This Saturday Cookstown Celtic take on Maxx FC in the league with a 2pm kick off at the Fairhill
