Cookstown man reveals details of crash that hurt pensioner

A Cookstown man has spoken out about the crash that left a pensioner in hospital yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, Oct 18).

The local resident, said he was just on the other side of a fence when a car appeared to have mounted the pavement and crashed into a garden off the main street.

“I was literally on the other side of the fence when it happened,” he told the Mail.

“Only for the kerb below the fence the car would have been straight through me!

“I heard the bang right behind me and turned. I think there was a woman trapped outside the front of the car.”

A woman in her 70s was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital following the incident, where she is said to be in a stable condition.

It is understood she had been walking along the path when she was injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash which took place around 3.30pm.
