Cookstown man to push cooker through 20 towns in Northern Ireland

Cookstown Businessman Des Keenan is heading up a charity cooker push that will travel through 20 towns in Northern Ireland with the aim to raise £70,000 for charity in June 2014.

The charity event will raise funds for Action MS and SVP charities with the aim of helping the needy and reducing poverty. The event will involve pushing a custom made Stanley cooker an approx. distance of 40 miles across 20 Towns province-wide from Tuesday 10th.The cooker will be pushed by Des Keenan and will cover the following route:• Tuesday 10th • Wednesday 11th • Thursday 12th • Friday 13th

• Saturday 14th

“We are starting the Cooker push at Stormont on Monday 2nd of these two important charities and their essential work with Ministers and the Northern Ireland

Assembly.

We are very excited about the push and look forward to getting the Cooker on the road and look forward to meeting the supporters on route. We are confident that the local people will support this worthwhile cause and come out and meet us along the route and also give us a push along the way too!”

Members and volunteers from the Action MS and SVP charities action MS and SVP will be collecting donations in all the towns throughout the push.

Des is a veteran fundraiser and in 2004 completed a 200 mile walk across Northern Ireland and raised £60,000 for a mobile home for MS suffers and their families in Portstewart. This year Des celebrates his 70th from SVP.
