Mid Ulster DUP MLA Ian McCrea has hit out at those who tried to steal a tractor from a farm between Moneymore and Cookstown in the early hours of March 2.

Although unsuccessful, the tractor was damaged during the attempted theft from premises on Tullyboy Road.

Ian said: “The tractor was discovered halfway down the lane by a neighbour with some damage and it is unclear at this moment as to why the perpetrators left the tractor, but the fact remains that the attempt was made.

“I have spoken to police and they are more than willing to have crime prevention officers visit anyone with concerns and to help a Farmwatch event is being organised for April and if any farmers or owners of trailers would like to avail of the free trailer marking event, please contact either of my offices on 028 7963 2664 or 028 8676 4952 to register your details.”
