Man in court for smashing flower basket

A MAN who damaged a flower basket belonging to Magherafelt Council, was given a Conditional Discharge for 12 months at the local Magistrates Court.

Michael John Molloy (22), of Station Park, Toomebridge, admitted causing £34 damage during the incident at Magherafelt on June 5 last year.

Defence solicitor Donard McCann explained that the incident the occurred after Molloy came out of a bar.

Mr McCann described it as an act of “foolish nonsense” which the defendant fully accepted.

District Judge Des Perry said he hoped Molloy had learned his lesson and would moderate his alcohol intake in future.
