THE mother of a teenager who was left with severe facial injuries following an assault after a night out in Cookstown has pleaded for witnesses to come forward in a bid to find out what happened to her son.
The 18-year-old from the Rock sustained a long list of injuries including a broken nose, fractures in his cheekbone, internal bruising on his chest and nerve damage under his left eye during an assault in the car park of a hotel on the Drum Road at around 1.30am on Monday May 28.
The victim’s mum - who didn’t want her family to be identified for the sake of her son who she said had been left “paranoid” following the attack - appealed for anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
“This whole thing has distressed my son and my family,” she said. “He was left in an awful state with blood everywhere and still had concussion five days after it happened.
“We’ve been told he might have to get a plate in his cheek because of how bad the fractures are. I just want people to come forward with information so this doesn’t happen to someone else.”
Police asked witnesses to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
