SEVEN people were arrested by police in relation to drugs offences, anti-social behaviour and motoring offences in Magherafelt over the weekend.
Area Commander, Chief Inspector Sam Donaldson praised the work of local officers.
He said, “Police in Magherafelt have been working tirelessly to tackle crime, drugs, anti-social behaviour and vehicle nuisance. Extra police officers were deployed in the area over the weekend to carry out searches and vehicle check-points, (VCP’s). This resulted in arrests for criminal damage, assault, drink driving and other motoring offences. Police also seized a quantity of meths and cannabis.
“We will continue to mount similar operations to deter criminals from operating in the Magherafelt area. Local officers are determined to reduce crime and keep our communities safer. I pay tribute to them and their unwavering effort and thank them for focusing on the issues that are important to the local community.”
