A MAGHERAFELT girl is tipped to be the next big thing in the world of modelling after she won the inaugural student competition in Belfast.
Danielle McLernon from the Castledawson Road topped off a successful year by taking first prize in the modelling competition run by Belfast Metropolitan College after achieving a First Class Honours in Fashion Management.
The 21-year-old fought off stiff competition to claim more than £1,000 worth of prizes including a holiday to Alicante, clothes vouchers, free haircare and most important of all a modelling contract with the Style Academy.
The proud Magherafelt student is also currently gracing a seven-page fashion spread in local glossy magazine Northern Woman. Speaking to the Mail Danielle said she is still overwhelmed since being thrust into the world of fashion following her comptition win.
“I couldn’t believe it when I won the BMC Modelling Competition and have been busy doing fashion shoots since, which is all very new to me but all very exciting,” she said. “Getting a first class honours in my fashion management degree was just the icing on the cake and I’m indebted to my lecturers at BMC for their ongoing help and support.
“Most of all I’m looking forward to heading away to Alicante with Jet2.com and I’m going to take my mum Cathy so we can have a good girlie holiday. I’ve been lucky as Jet2.com has given me indispensable packing tips from a poll of 940 Jet2.com cabin crew, so I’ll be packing like an expert.”
