A planning application to develop educational and community facilities at Eskragh Lough in Dungannon, has been deferred so that a meeting can be held to discuss objections to the proposal.
Thirty objections have been received to the proposal, mainly from people living beside the Lough who are concerned that any further development there will have a detrimental impact on traffic and noise in the area.
The issue was raised during the monthly meeting of Dungannon Council.
DUP councillor, Sammy Brush, said of the proposal for a change of use: “This is wrong. If there is a change of use, then there will be a change of users and in all likelihood increased traffic.”
Independent councillor, Barry Monteith, asked for the application to be deferred in order for a meeting to take place, while SDLP representative, Jim Cavanagh, said: “These objectors have rights, and this is their last chance to express them.”
