Does your organisation LOVE a Challenge?

Groupon UK and Ireland Vice President and former Apprentice TV finalist, Jim Eastwood, who's from Cookstown, joined the current Miss Northern Ireland, Emma Carswell to launch Action Cancer's Shops' Challenge 2017.

The leading local cancer charity, will be handing over the keys to its retail shops to organisations from across Northern Ireland on Thursday 14th September 2017 as part of the fifth annual Shops’ Challenge.

The Shops’ Challenge to date has raised a staggering £250,000 for the charity’s cancer prevention, detection and support services, and local businesses are being encouraged to come on board for the 2017 event.

Volunteers from the various organisations will be using their entrepreneurial skills, business acumen and collective experience to increase donations, footfall and sales at the various shops on the day of the challenge, as well holding their own creative fundraising events in the run up to Take-Over Day.

Diane Winter, Action Cancer’s Retail Development Officer said: “This Valentine’s week, we are urging people in local organisations who love a challenge, and who love to make a difference, to come on board and give something back to their local communities.

“Every penny raised during the challenge stays within Northern Ireland to provide free services to local people including; breast screening to women aged 40-49 and 70 plus and complementary therapies and counselling to anyone impacted by cancer.”

Local businesses who have already signed up to the 2017 challenge include Marks and Spencer, Royal Mail, Enterprise Rent A Car and Team Solutions. Colin Patton, Area Manager from Enterprise Rent A Car commented: “This will be our third year participating in the Shops Challenge and after a very successful event last time around, my colleagues and I are all looking forward to taking part in 2017.”
