Draperstown schools commended on winning environmental awards

Ballinascreen based Sinn Féin councillor, Brian McGuigan has commended the school communities at St Colm’s High School and St Mary’s Primary School, Draperstown on “winning two prestigious all-Ireland environmental awards.” Speaking at a recent civic reception hosted by the Chairperson of Magherafelt District Council, Kate McEldowney he stated that his fellow parishoners were “very proud of our local schools achievements and the partnerships formed to ensure the completion of Susan’s Trail which lead to the awards.”

“Our local schools by working collaboratively with others on joint-eco issues are to be highly commended for their positive endeavors to enhance community life.

“Such collaboration enhances the learning and experience of our young citizens who are interested in promoting sustainable development, a green environment and a healthy community. The benefits of which will be enjoyed by our local community in the years to come.”
