AN unemployed graduate whose car was found by police “sticking in a ditch”, has lost his licence for a year.
Paul O’Kane (24), of Stoney Park, Swatragh, was also fined a total of £165 for driving while having consumed excess alcohol.
O’Kane was certified to take part in the drink-drive rehabililation course.
A prosecuting lawyer said on August 11 at 4.15am police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Drumbane Road area of Swatragh. She said on arrival they found a car sticking in the ditch and a short distance away the defendant who was covered in mud.O’Kane was arrested and taken to Limavady custody suite where he provided a specimen which showed an alcohol reading of 76mcgs in breath.
Admitting the offence, a lawyer said defendant had been out for the evening and “very foolishly” decided to go out again.
The lawyer said O’Kane then decided to go back home and while trying to turn the vehicle ended up in the ditch.
