A DUP delegation has heard about the investment at Dale Farm’s Dunmanbridge cheese processing site and the vision for the co-op going forward.
Among those visiting were DUP MEP Diane Dodds, MLA for the area Ian McCrea and Agriculture Committee members Michelle McIlveen, William Irwin and Chairman Paul Frew.
Mrs Dodds said the visit highlights the importance of the agri-food sector to Northern Ireland’s economy and providing jobs across the country.
“Dale Farm is working hard to ensure they are well placed to deal with market uncertainties,” she said.
And she referred to the company having won a number of contracts in growing markets like China, Russia and Africa, as well as making major investments across the company over the last number of years.
Part of this major investment has been at the Dunmanbridge plant which is one of the most advanced cheese processing plants in Europe.
The plant at Dunmanbridge specialises in cheese, whey protein and specialist milk powder products which emerging markets require and that hopefully secure a future for milk products going forward.
