The MAIL visited the school recently and got a glimpse of some of the after schools clubs which the school provides including ‘Fun with Drums’ taken by instructor James.

Ms McCusker said: “These are very important to our school. At Castledawson Primary School want to promote the whole child, we want children to be able to experience success outside the classroom and we also want to promote our school values, for example, tolerance, perseverance, cooperation all those sorts of things that you can promote through after schools clubs.

“We have a range of activities which take place from Monday to Thursday, such as Football, Fun with Drums, Netball, Scripture Union which is an Art and Craft class taken by a group called ‘Reaching Out Northern Ireland’.

“We also have Outdoor play for the younger children, Golf which is taken by Randal who is the course pro Moyola Golf Club. We also have an Eco Club as we are an eco school as well as Choir and Rugby.”

Ms McCusker added: “We have a great range of activities and the children all seem to enjoy it, next term we have gymnastics starting after Halloween which we are really looking forward to.”
