MOLESWORTH Street and Molesworth Road will be closed from this Monday August 15 until Friday August 26 while a £120,000 resurfacing scheme is carried out.
More than 1km of carriageway from the lighted junction in the town centre at James Street to the junction with the Fountain Road will be tended to in the final phase of a public sewerage scheme in the area.
The resurfacing work will aim to improve the drainage of the road surface and do away with associated “ponding problems”.
Roads Service warned that diversions will be signposted when the roads close and have asked that the public is patient and leaves extra time for journeys as a higher volume of traffic along the diversion is expected.
A spokesperson said pedestrian access to properties should not be affected and that a meeting will be held with representatives of the Education Board, PSNI, the District Council and the traders.
Should the public require further information on this or other road related issues they can contact the Roads Service Office at Molesworth Place, Molesworth Street, Cookstown or by telephone on 028 8675 7600.
