These very successful courses are the only ones of their kind in Northern Ireland and due to the expansion of the airline industry at Belfast International Airport, Derry City Airport and George Best City Airport the College is best situated to offering these courses to the local community.

Forty one students were presented with their certificates by Deirdre Graffin Business Account and Public Relations Executive at Belfast International Airport and Karen McLeod, Airline and Airport Course Manager for Travel and Tourism at NRC.

These add-on certificate programmes are suitable for all age groups and are relevant to industry needs, with the prime focus on the passenger. Included in their studies is airline and airport customer care, creating a positive impression with passengers, solving passenger problems and the importance of product knowledge of the entire airline industry.

The courses are highly commended by Deirdre Graffin, PR Executive at Belfast International Airport.

“As Belfast International airport is on the doorstep of NRC, the airport and the college aim to complement the industry’s vision, of people first, through meeting personal and professional needs of the workforce.”

Commenting on the success of the course and the students, course manager Karen McLeod said: “Since NRC introduced these programmes in September 2007, they have proved to be extremely popular with students and Travel and Tourism education provision has gone from strength to strength. These particular certificate level 2 programmes, provide learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed further at undergraduate level and enhance overall employability.”
